So today we were privileged and honoured to facilitate the live stream of the funeral service of Camila Batmanghelidjh.
The Kids Company founder was hailed as a “brilliant woman” at the highly colourful funeral which was held in accordance with her wishes
In a statement read out today by her brother Ardi, Camila told those present “not to be sad” and “under no condition should anyone wear black, colour is the order of the day”
Ms Batmanghelidjh’s family had announced her death at the beginning of the month, stating that she had died peacefully in her sleep.
Camila’s body lay in repose for five days prior to the funeral at FA Albin & Sons funeral directors for visitors to pay their respects and leave messages.
Our work began the previous day – preparing all the cameras, streaming equipment, speakers and screens to provide full live stream coverage plus a live link to outside featuring 2 large screens and PA system.
We set off on Saturday at 0600 to make sure we arrived at Golder’s Green in plenty of time. Chris, duty manager at the crematorium, greeted us and briefed us on positions and logistics.
Our cameras were set up at the back, along with our independent custom internet system designed to ensure a high quality, consistent broadcast.
Outside we installed 2x large TV screens and a PA system so that the hundreds of additional mourners that could not fit into the chapel would not miss any part of the service.
Working next to us was a news crew so we provided them with a sound feed from our desk to help with their broadcast and also worked closely with the documentary and photography teams that were also on site.
